The Companion

I’am a part of her,

inheriting her blood & genes;

she resides in my soul,

she makes me complete.

She held my tiny fingers, the day I was born,

& made the promise to live the Odyssey of my life, along with me.

She bears the pain, everyday,

working for hours,

for no one but for me;

she truly is a ballsy.

Her happy demeanour makes her more beautiful;

she is my inspiration,

my guardian angel.

She will remain in my heart for eternity;

she is my companion, my mother,

my love for her is way beyond infinity.

The instrument of destruction

I’am a music in my own way;

who has the power to affect your world,

the moment you throw me with unmelodious jingle.

They play the unrythmic tunes,

chastising each other,

making it the war of words.

I can make you, I can break you.

I can be a soulful soft-pedal, or an icy cacophony;

it all depends on your symphony.

So let me ask you, you poor chap,

what if the words you speak appear on your skin;

would you be more careful of what you sing?

Development or Envelopment?

Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant project came into existence when an Inter-Governmental Agreement was signed by then Prime Minister of India Rajiv Gandhi & then Soviet head of state Mikhail Gorbachev, in 1988. This project remained in controversies since then & led to belligerent behaviour of the locals.KKNPP was set up with a view to generate electricity in the area which remains bereaved of it because of unprecendented power cuts. KKNPP is scheduled to have six VVER-1000 reactors buit in collaboration with Atomstroyexport, the Russian state company & Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL), with an installed capacity of 6000 MW of electricity. It can supply electricity to at least 200 million homes since it is capable of generating 1000 MW of power when operational and has in-built safety measures that minimises the risk of any radiation leak. The location of the plant is in area that is least prone to earthquakes, and it’s height ensures potential safety from tsunamis. Despitesl this, there have been protests against KKNPP. Several petitions had been filed before the top court by anti-nuclear activists challenging the project on safety grounds. Indeed this project will banish the sufferings of all those who are still deprived of electricity, but everything which brings advantages with it, has stumbling block too.

                           According to the available data, KKNPP reactors are being set up without sharing the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), Site Evaluation Study and Safety Analysis Report with the people. Apart from this, the coolant water and low-grade waste from the KKNPP are going to be dumped in to the sea which will have a severe impact on fish production. Even when the KKNPP project functios normally without any incidents & accidents, they would be emitting Iodine isotopes, strontium, tritium & other such radioactive particles into air, land crops, cattle, sea, seafood & ground water.

                          Development is the need of the hour, but not at the stake of environment & fears of our people. People in South depend blisteringly upon fishing industry, ergo, we should not cause any detriment to their source of livelihood. Russia itself has not built any nuclear power plant in it’s country since many years & a number of countries have decided to close down their nuclear power plants because of the damage it causes to humans, animals, & our environment. Building nuclear power plants is a step towards progress & evolution, but it is no less than an imprecation to those who will ultimately bear it’s aftermath. Here is the time to pause and ponder- this development is for whom, the company providing substandard materials for KKNPP or our people? What is the use of such a “progress” which begets fear in the minds of people, takes away their living, damages our water bodies and seas, causes havoc to our fishing indusrty, makes our soil infertile and air impure to breathe. If this environment provides us resources to develop ourselves then it is our responsibility to become a shield for that environment against the injury it causes to the environment. There is no point of providing employment to 10,000 people and taking away the source of income & place of living from many.

                                 By causing damage to our environment, we are risking the lives of future generations. With this method of development, we would be less developed and more injured in the coming years. We are actually enclosing “damage & more damage”  in the envelop of progress, which suggests that, in the name of “development”, we are unknowingly mistreating our environment through “envelopment”.

NaMo for the new India

The redoubtable, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, again emerged as the most popular leader of India, winning the heartland with the same aplomb, puncturing the cycle symbol, beating other political parties too & standing apart from the rest. Apart from Uttar Pradesh, NaMo government has made it in Uttarakhand too with the same valour as it did in 2014 elections. BJP’s core team played the trump card well, using the charisma of Brand Modi, an emphatic victory for the Bhartiya Janta Party. Kudos to the BJP government for passing the demonetisation test with flying colours, proving itself to be praiseworthy for the work it has done in the past three years, and igniting hopes for development & more such reforms in the coming years.                                  On the other hand, Samajwadi Party faced debacle in the state that earlier made the way for Akhilesh Yadav to be the Chief Minister of the state thrice. Perhaps, the reason for the fiasco faced by the Samajwadi Party is the SP-Congress alliance, which turned out to be a jinx for SP. Another cause for SP’s failure in Uttar Pradesh is the dramatic tussle going on between Akhilesh Yadav  & his father Mulayam Singh Yadav, who was never in favour of this alliance. These internal conflicts in SP are one of the major reasons for the victory of BJP, making it a comeback for BJP after 15 years  in the state. There is a question mark on Akhilesh Yadav’s decision to form an alliance with Congress because indeed, the votes clearly wasn’t against SP but it was against the “alliance”. This is a hard knock for SP scion, he will need to come onto roads & campaign relentlessly to make a political comeback, inspiring demoralised cadres & strategising well for the next elections.

                                 Since, BJP has conjured up the “Modi Magic”, it should work diligently to maintain the benchmark that BJP has set for itself & other political parties. Other parties too should gel up for transforming our nation from a “developing country” into a “developed country” , making India compete with the major powers of the world. This election has transcended the boundaries of politics of caste, nepotism and appeasement, making it clear that people will support the pro-development party. The citizens should remain aware about every single aspect related to the selection of government, and other parties should make an analysis that where they lack because ultimately, it’s all about winning or losing.

Mercy Killing

“We don’t let animals suffer, so why humans?” – Stephen Hawkings

Being humans, it is our desire to live a dignified & blissful life. But what I feel is that euthanasia, a perennial issue on grounds of humanity, has been shrugged off. With god’s grace, every individual is here to live a majestic life & be a man of spirits. What we really need in our lives is a ‘LIFE’. A person, immersed in disease, who has lost his acumen, who is forced to live, is that person actually living? Pondering, how it feels to be a riffraff.
I read an article in regard to assisted-suicide which stated the case of Arunima Ramchandra Shanbaag who had been atrociously raped by one of her colleagues at her work place. According to that article, the lady got paralysis attack & was in a prolonged state of unconsciousness for years !! Her lawyer pleaded in court on behalf of her for mercy killing, but, obviously the decision was not in her favour. Her life became gloomy & she couldn’t elude this mishap. She layed in bed for ages, wearing a somber expression on her face.

A man indeed gets lose hearted when he gets  hobson’s choice. The moment a person becomes redundant to himself, it’s better to give him coup de grace. I don’t feel like providing assisted-suicide to a man who has even 0.1% chances of getting back to life. But what about the man who has already buried himself into the ground? We talk about human rights, humanity & mercy, but are we really doing mercy on a man whose life has stopped even glimmering? How can we force a person to do something without putting ourselves in his shoes? Isn’t this society a hypocrite? Questions are there, but answers are none. Apart from the sufferings of the man, there are the sufferings of his kith & kins too.

When you are born with dignity, you have the right to die with dignity. Ergo, it’s better to understand the malady of the man & banish all his sufferings. Being at the juncture of immedicable disease, what all he needs is a sheer DEATH BLOW with MERCY.

A walk on the mountains

It was a few months ago. I was on an adventure trip with my college mates; extremely happy & curious for those 8 days which we were going to spend in Manali, placid heaven itself. We started our journey to the serene mountains; a trip which either of us will never forget, a trip which brought us all together to enjoy the pivotal phase of our life, a trip which will always bring a cheerful smile on our faces when talked about it.

      19th May, Sukhna Lake, Chandigarh

Now what to say about Chandigarh…such a beautiful & perfectly organised place with less traffic unlike other cities of India. It was around 5 O’clock when we travelled to the nearby place, the famous, calm & soothing Sukhna Lake of Chandigarh. I was stunned. It was so quiet & peaceful. I along with my friends sat there, breathing the fresh air. The moon was up, painting the world silver, making things look just a little more alive. The soothing air touched our faces. We rambled there, captured the snaps & gave a last look to the lake which adorned the city.

      20th May; Manali, Himachal Pradesh

Finally, we were at the place for which we all were eagerly waiting.

               Take me to the mountains. This was the only thought I had in my mind. The moment I saw  the Beas river flowing with extreme pressure, I was amazed. It was the beauty, serenity & avidity which slumbered at that place. We were on the way to our camps. I sat on the window seat of our bus, looking at the sky -touching mountains, as if they were talking to me; bragging about their own beauty.

We reached our destination, Kia Camps. We were here for adventures. We went inside the alloted tent & got ready for lunch & our first activity, the burma  bridge crossing. Honestly, I was nervous & frantic with worry. But I convinced myself for the challenge. May be I will never get a chance to be at this place & do such activities again.

                    Today, when I look back at that time, I feel elated & joyous for the fear I overcame & an opportunity to be at that astounding heaven. Don’t stand still & think negative, this will ultimately bring your moral down. Transcend your fears & horizons for one day it will be a sweet & courageous memory of your past.

21st May; Hidamba Temple & Mall road, Manali

Roaming on the streets of Manali was one of the favourite parts of my trip. From river rafting to going above to the temple, I challenged my limits. Although it was a gruelling task but I reached there. I had a great time there eating, enjoying & living the most exciting trip with my mates.

                  22nd May;Solang Valley

The snow mountain !! Trekking to Solang Valley was one of the most difficult tasks I had ever came across. We diligently climbed mountains. It required sheer hard work & efforts. We began to toil up the cliff path.

                On the way to Solang Valley, I came across the scenery of nature. I had no words. I quietly looked at the scenes which I had never seen before. It was the lush green mountains which demanded our attention. It was so fascinating that I cannot express. I embraced every aspect of that place which held me in it’s arms. Flock of sheeps grazed there, making the mountains look even more awe-inspiring.

I embalmed the memories in an unaltered state. This trip taught me that there is so much more to life apart from our daily hectic schedules. I learned to transcend my limits. And most importantly this trip touched my soul.We need to stop & give a thought to the fact that we all need to get close to the nature, it may bring some kind of positive change to our lives.

           And unfortunately, the trip came to an end. It was time to bid adieu to the most amazing place that one must visit. It offers you enthusiasm, peacefulness & a journey which one will never forget, for sure.  One must pack his bags & take A Walk On The Montains !!

Power of Punch

Success – it is all after what we are running & it is actually extremely important to be one in a million in today’s cut throat competition. For sure, an individual needs to have wisdom to be successful in his/her field. Apart from wisdom, our success depends on five important elements. Just like five fingers makes a punch, these five elements acts as magnificent pillars of our life, which are – Fitness, Faith, Finance, Family & Friends.

               On the path of success, you ought to be fit to give a shot to your dreams. One should be physically, mentally & spiritually fit and tough to achieve their dreams/goals. Your health is the golden key to success. An unhealthy mind will bring dull results & an unhealthy body will definitely act as a hurdle in your journey towards success. This will turn a man into a jaded person who lacks all the energy & enthusiasm. You need to keep that fire kindle all the time which will make you grab your dreams by being fit & healthy.

                    Many of us, for sure, believe in god or the supreme power which controls the cosmos. One should have faith in himself &, of course, in that supreme power too. There comes a point in everyone’s life when you feel hopeless about your success. There is chaos in our mind & heart. We feel as if we are captives of negative thoughts & success will never knock on our doors. This is the time when we need to have optimistic mind & belief in that supreme power which will take us to our goal.

                       Finance is directly related with our objectives & is an utmost factor which brings success to us. Whatever is your aim, you require finance to start working on your objective & also when you are on the path of success. We can say that finance is the base on which we build an empire of our dreams. Yes, I agree, that it’s not all about money but undoubtedly, money is something which makes us feel strong on financial grounds.

                    Family – it is what in which our entire world rests. Apart from working for ourselves, we work for our family so that we can give them all the happiness. Our family is our companion on emotional odyssey. No person can imagine to live their dreams whithout family support. We feel elated when we achieve something & our family is there to share those moments. Our zeal is supported by our family & we cherish every second of our life. When you have family by your side, nothing can stop you from being successful.

                And indeed, friends are important too when you are heading towards your dreams. Every success matters, be it big or small and you need to have friends to enjoy those moments. Friends are family. They motivate you, understand you & make you feel alive. They too act as necessary elements of your world. They laugh with you, cry with you & stand with you to enjoy your success. They fill your life with colours.

When you combine these five F’s, they make a powerful PUNCH. Absence of any of these F’s is not at all affordable. So make a punch & bang it on your dreams !!
